MANILA — Sen. Lito Lapid on Wednesday filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for senator as he seeks reelection in 2025.

Lapid, who won his current Senate seat in 2019, is eyeing another term to maximize the two consecutive terms allowed by law.

During his two-minute speech, Lapid touted his experience as he asked reporters not to ask him questions anymore.

"Siguro hinihintay niyo na naman anong sasabihin ko dito. Siguro hindi niyo na ko tatanungin dahil three terms na po ako bilang senador. At bumabalik, kung ako'y papalarin ulit, magiging four terms na ko sa tulong ng ating mga kababayan," he said.

(I suppose you are waiting for for what I will say here. I think you won't have to ask me questions anymore since I have been a senator for three terms, and if I'm lucky, it will be my fourth term)

The senator vowed to push legislation on agri-tourism in case he gets reelected.

He said he would also expand the "Lapid Law" or Free Legal Assistance Act of 2010, which incentivizes lawyers and law firms to render free legal services to the poor.

"Siguro sa experience ko ay puwede na kong manungkulan ulit at ulit. Bigyan sana ako ng pagkakataon," he said.

(Maybe, with my experience, I can serve again and again. I hope I get the opportunity)

After his speech, Lapid swifly left the Comelec stage to skip questions from reporters.

Lapid filed his COC along with former senators Tito Sotto and Ping Lacson, who are both eyeing their return to the Senate.

The three are part of the Alyansa ng Bagong Pilipinas' senatorial slate endorsed by the Marcos administration.
