Authorities in Central Visayas nabbed a suspected member of the New People's Army (NPA) a night before Christmas.

On Wednesday, Police Regional Director Jose Mario Espino presented to the media Jonathan Lacadman, 26 and a resident of Brgy. Trinidad, Guihulngan City in Negros Oriental.

Espino said Lacadman is also one of the gunmen in an ambush incident last July 21 that resulted in the killing of six policemen in Magsaysay, Guihulngan City.

Lacadman has standing warrants of arrest relating to multiple murder, frustrated murder, theft and robbery charges.

The operation was conducted in Dumanjug, southwest of Cebu, where Lacadman has been temporarily hiding with his live-in partner.

Intelligence Division Chief Senior Supt. Jonathan Cabal said that tipsters from Dumanjug paved the way for Lacadman's apprehension.

He also confirmed that the arrested suspect is a regular member of the NPA, but no firearm was confiscated during the operation.

With the arrest of Lacadman, Espino assured that they are closely monitoring the possible retaliation from the communist group but was quick in saying that there is no insurgency threat in Cebu.

Lacadman refused to answer questions from the media.
