Holiday lights kick off Pascua de Zamboanga Festival

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Thousands joined the countdown for the ceremonial switch-on of the Christmas display at the city hall here, officially opening the Pascua de Zamboanga Festival.
Themed "I love Zamboanga City," the display features 3,000 hearts adorning famous parks such as Plaza Rizal and Plaza Pershing, the city government said.
A giant Christmas tree was, meanwhile, put up at Paseo del Mar.
Zamboanga City Mayor Ma. Isabel Climaco-Salazar said the theme of love is timely amid issues confronting the country.

She added that the theme encourages residents to love the city more. She admitted that some of the decor concepts also came from different cities in the country.
The local government unit has yet to give an estimate of the cost of the decorations.
