GUIMBAL, Iloilo - A kindergarten student was hurt after a portion of the classroom's ceiling fell during the magnitude 4.8 earthquake here on Monday morning.
Teacher Marie Claire Era said the girl only sustained a minor abrasion and was immediately allowed to go home. She said the students were evacuating when the ceiling at the Igcocolo Elementary School collapsed.
Era said the rest of the students, teachers, and school personnel were safely evacuated during the quake.
Phivolcs earlier reported Intensity 4, which feels like the vibration from the passing of a heavy truck, in Iloilo City and San Jose de Buenavista town in Antique
Meanwhile, Intensity 3, which may cause dizziness and nausea, was recorded in Roxas City, the town of Dao in Capiz; and the town of Belison in Antique.
Intensity 2, which may be felt by a few individuals at rest indoors, was also reported in Cadiz town in Negros Oriental and President Roxas town in Capiz.
Phivolcs also observed Instrumental Intensity 3 in Culasi, Antique, and Instrumental Intensity 2 in Cebu City and Roxas City. Instrumental intensities are not necessarily felt.
