Was it a stray bullet? A National Bureau of Investigation official said the bullet that hit the car of Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre's security aide "had no more impact."

Atty. Johnny Caguiat, the NBI investigator tasked to investigate the matter, said the bullet that hit the car of Senior Inspector Recaredo Sarmiento Marasigan did not break through the plastic of the car's taillight.

"According sa ballistician, wala nang impact ang bullet. Hindi na siya naka-penetrate sa plastic sa loob ng taillight. Possibly, according to him, malayo na ang pinanggalingan ng bullet na tumama sa sasakyan," Caguiat said in a text message from Justice Undersecretary Erickson Balmes.

Balmes on Tuesday corrected earlier reports that a bullet hit the home of the justice chief, saying that it was Marasigan's personal vehicle that was struck by the bullet. Marasigan is a member of Aguirre's security detail.

In Marasigan's narrative, he was "about to turn left from Sucat Road to BF Homes" between 5:30 a.m. and 5:50 a.m. on Tuesday when he "felt something hit the back part of my Hyundai Eon."

"Upon arrival at the house of SoJ (Aguirre), I inspected my car and saw a hole at the left tail light part of my car. When I inspected further, I saw a slug inside the hole."

The incident has since been reported to the Parañaque City police.

Aguirre is currently in Cagayan de Oro to attend a gathering of judges.
