MANILA- A court has denied retired Army Major Gen. Jovito Palparan's plea to halt his transfer to the New Bilibid Prison.

Justice Chief Menardo Guevarra said Tuesday Palparan appealed his commitment order to the Malolos Regional Trial Court Branch 15 but was denied.

Palparan was found guilty of kidnapping and illegal detention over the disappearance of 2 University of the Philippines students in 2006.

In junking Palparan's plea, the court explained that a commitment order must immediately be executed despite a pending appeal.

Armed Forces Chief of Staff, Gen. Carlito Galvez meanwhile has also assured that Palparan would be transferred properly to the national penitentiary on Thursday morning.

Palparan is currently detained at the military's general headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.
