MANILA - The brother of Cadet 4th Class Darwin Dormitorio on Saturday said the Philippine Military Academy failed to inform the family of their loved one's earlier hospital confinement and checks, as they cried for justice for his death allegedly due to hazing.

Detailing his brother's afflictions that eventually took his life, Dormitorio's elder sibling Dexter said the family did not know about the cadet's three hospitalizations before his death on Sept. 18.

"Ang PMA po hinihiram lang po nila 'yung buhay ng kadete. Ultimately po ang may desisyon d'yan kung anong mangyayari sa kaniya, paano 'yung treatment na gusto nila, sa magulang pa rin po," Dexter said.

Dexter said the PMA kept them in the dark about his brother's condition and only received two texts from them in the entire course of his training. One was about Dexter making it to the cadet corps and the other one about "an unfavorable incident."

Dexter said his brother was first confined at the PMA hospital from Aug. 20 to 27 after complaining of chest contusion. He was brought back to the hospital on Sept. 6 for the same complaint.

He also cited how after news about his brother's death broke, three cadets suspected to have injuries due to hazing were brought to hospitals outside premier military school.

Dexter said his brother joined the PMA to follow in their father's footstep. He aspired to be an Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff someday. Even before entering PMA, Dormitorio trained in military drills under his father, who was an Army colonel.

"Durog 'yung pancreas niya, durog 'yung kidneys niya, kinuryente rin po siya doon. 'Yung large intestines niya connecting sa skin napunit po 'yung around 4 to 5 inches so grabe 'yung pagdudugo nun. Mayroon din siya mga latay sa ribs na pinalo ng manipis na tubo," he said.

The family is just waiting for the police report which they said they would review first before filing appropriate charges.

"Nananawagan po ako ng suporta at panalangin at sana po 'wag nating hayaan mamatay 'yung isyu porke't natapos na, na file na 'yung kaso, kasi hindi lang naman po ito sa kapatid ko, para po ito sa future kadete na gustong pumasok sa PMA, sa PNPA, sa anumang organization," he said.
"Nananawagan po ako ng suporta at panalangin at sana po 'wag nating hayaan mamatay 'yung isyu porke't natapos na, na file na 'yung kaso, kasi hindi lang naman po ito sa kapatid ko, para po ito sa future kadete na gustong pumasok sa PMA, sa PNPA, sa anumang organization," he said.
