MAGUINDANAO-- Armed Forces recovered war materials from an armed lawless group believed to be members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in Sitio Sanyag Barangay Kauran, Ampatuan at 5 p.m. last Saturday.

Soldiers of the 601st Infantry Brigade recovered 10 high powered firearms including one M-60 machine gun, four M-14 rifles, two M-16 rifles, one M-203 grenade launcher, one shotgun and one improvised automatic grenade launcher.

Explosives were also recovered in the area including 18 rounds of mortar, 18 rounds of 40-mm high explosives and 4,693 assorted ammunition.

Brigade commander Colonel Cirilito Sobejana said army troopers were conducting security patrol in the area when they encountered an unidentified number of armed men for 20 minutes believed to be from the BIFF.

Sobejana added that four members of the armed lawless group were also wounded during the exchange of gunfire while no casualty was recorded on the government side.
