MANILA - The United Nations World Food Program on Sunday said it would help in the government's response to Typhoon Ompong (Mangkhut).

The UN agency said it would transport 20,000 bags of rice for which will distributed as rations to victims of the typhoon.

"The rice is transported from the National Food Authority in Valenzuela to the DSWD National Resource Operations Center," WFP said in a statement.

The WFP said it would also help in assessing post-typhoon food security situation in the Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Regions.
