MANILA - A typhoon monitored more than a thousand kilometers from Northern Luzon is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility in the afternoon, state weather bureau PAGASA said Monday.

The typhoon, called 'Talim' while still outside PAR, has no direct effect yet in any part of the country, said PAGASA.

The tropical cyclone will be named "Lannie" once it enters PAR. The state weather bureau said this cyclone is likely to intensify further.

It is expected to move "generally west northwestwar in the general direction of Extreme Northern Luzon-Taiwan area," said PAGASA.

PAGASA also reported in its 10:00 am bulletin that the previously monitored Low Pressure Area east of Bicol region was estimated to be at 400 kilometers east of Quezon province.

This weather system will bring moderate to occassionally heavy rains over Visayas, Southern Luzon, Central Luzon, and Metro Manila on Monday and Tuesday, said PAGASA.

It may also cause flashflood and landslides in the Bicol region and the provinces of Zambales and Aurora.
