Duterte's son, Davao City Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte personally welcomed the Singaporean leader.

The Singaporean leader earlier visited Manila and laid a flower wreath before the monument of Dr. Jose Rizal at Luneta Park in the capital. She also went to the opening of Singaporium, a meeting among the members of the Philippines-Singapore Business Council in Manila.

Halimah arrived in the country and discussed strengthening bilateral ties between Singapore and the Philippines with Duterte. Both leaders signed bilateral agreements, including 8 memoranda of understanding on education, agriculture, infrastructure, and culture, among others.

Her visit marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between her country and the Philippines.
