Later Monday, Yacob is expected to discuss strengthening bilateral ties between Singapore and the Philippines with President Rodrigo Duterte. The 2 leaders will also lead the signing of bilateral agreements and issue a joint statement, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs.

She will also attend the opening of Singaporium, a meeting among the members of the Philippines-Singapore Business Council, as well as a tour of the Philippine Eagle Foundation Center in Davao City and a dialogue with youth from Mindanao, said the DFA.

Yacob is the first female President of Singapore. Her visit marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between her country and the Philippines.
