MANILA—The camp of former President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III maintained that Senator Antonio Trillanes IV did submit his application for amnesty.

This after Malacañang declared as void from the start the amnesty granted to the senator for failing to comply with minimum requirements.

Speaking to ANC, Aquino's spokesperson Atty. Abigail Valte argued there are physical and hard evidence showing Trillanes submitting his application and taking his oath before the Department of National Defense.

“We find it quite strange that the actual hard copy of the application for amnesty is now, as the government says, is missing. And obviously you have footage of Trillanes being interviewed back then saying that he did sign the application and there was a corresponding admission of guilt for breaking the rules and admitting there were offenses committed under the Revised Penal Code,” she said.

“So it’s quite strange. This is a factual issue that is already supported by video evidence by reporting for that time. So it seems quite strange that the administration could not find that particular pieces of evidence when all they had to do was go to Google.”

Valte also noted that Aquino expressed concerns over the ramifications of President Rodrigo Duterte's move.

“You cannot deny that a revocation like this will send a message to other groups who may be thinking, who may be in conflict with present government . . . and will rethink whether they can come to negotiating table and whether they can get amnesty from in this government and whether that amnesty will hold in the future,” she said.
