Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Monday announced that the city will have a new Public Safety and Security Command Center director.

"Another action of the city government is to appoint a new head for the Public Safety and Security Command Center. He is General Benito de Leon. He’s retired from the Armed Forces of the Philippines. He’s coming on work today as the head of the PSSCC," she said.

This comes days after an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion rocked a night market in Davao City on Friday night, leaving 14 people dead and more than 60 people injured.

Duterte-Carpio is also replacing Task Force Davao commander, Col. Henry Robinson and Davao City Police Director, Senior Superintendent Michael John Dubria.

"I already talked to the high officials of the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines, and I told them that I want new people and new ideas and improvements for Davao City," she said.

She refused to name Robinson's replacement, and said she is still awaiting the shortlist from PNP chief, Director General Ronald dela Rosa for Dubria's.

"I discussed it on Saturday night with Director Dela Rosa. I gave him a name, he refused to put that person as the city director. Then he gave me a name, I also refused for that person to be city director," she said.

"Our compromise was he would come up with a shortlist in two to three days," she added.
