ILOCOS SUR - The body of a man was found on the shore of Alangan Beach in Magsingal, Ilocos Sur Monday morning.

The victim was identified as Jobert Tara, a resident of Barangay Nalasin, Sto. Domingo in Ilocos Sur.

Based on investigation, Tara went to a beach in Sto. Domingo town along with five other friends Sunday afternoon. As they were swimming, Joel Vergado called for help as he was drowning.

Tara and his friends tried to save Vergado by pulling him towards the shore but big waves carried Tara away.

Authorities conducted a search and rescue operation for almost 16 hours but they failed to find the victim.
