MANILA- ABS-CBN broadcast journalist Jeff Canoy is this year’s Marshall McLuhan fellow.

Canoy on Thursday received the award from Canadian Ambassador John Holmes at the conclusion of the Jaime V. Ongpin Journalism Seminar, where the former served as a panelist.

Holmes lauded the Kapamilya reporter for his "remarkable skills" that bring life to stories that need to be told.

The Marshall McLuhan Fellowship grant is the latest accolade given to Canoy.

In June, he received an honorable mention award from the Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) for Excellence in Explanatory Reporting.

Red Alert, an ABS-CBN show hosted by Canoy, won the 2018 Golden Dove Award for Best TV Public Service Program in May.

Established in 1997, the prestigious Marshall McLuhan Fellowship is awarded yearly to a recipient "embodying outstanding qualities in the field of investigative journalism."

Other ABS-CBN journalists who have received the award are Gigi Grande in 2016 and Lynda Jumilla in 2012.
