MANILA- Minority senators who sought to invalidate the Philippines' withdrawal from the International Criminal Court (ICC) failed to attend the Supreme Court's oral arguments on their plea Tuesday.

Lawyer Anna Marie Corominas instead appeared on behalf of the senators and explained that the lawmakers have yet to decide on their representation.

The senators had wanted to be represented by Sen. Leila de Lima, who had been detained since Feb. 2017 on drug charges. A later appeal to have her participate via audio or video was denied.

De Lima and Senators Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan, Franklin Drilon, Bam Aquino, Risa Hontiveros, and Antonio Trillanes IV filed a pleading in March to declare the Philippines' withdrawal from the ICC invalid.

The lawmakers argued that the withdrawal should be invalidated for lack of concurrence of Senate by a two-thirds vote.

The petition was filed after President Rodrigo Duterte pulled out the Philippines from the ICC.
