MANILA - Detained Ozamiz City Vice Mayor Nova Parojinog was asked to surrender drugs in her possession prior to the police raid that killed her father, Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr., a police official said Thursday.

Chief Insp. Jovie Espenido, Ozamiz City police director, said they knew of Parojinog's relationship with inmate Herbert Colanggo. He said he asked the vice mayor to surrender the drugs.

"Walang takutan tayo. Si Vice Mayor sinabi ko 'May relasyon ka kay Ambang, so sa drugs. Dapat i-surrender mo na lang yung drugs na nandito,'" he told ANC in an exclusive interview.

(There's no intimidation here. I told Vice Mayor, 'You have a relationship with Ambang, so it's (connected to) drugs. You should surrender the drugs in here.)

"Ambang," he said, is Colanggo who is detained in the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa.

Colanggo is one of the high-profile inmates who testified against Senator Leila de Lima, alleging that the Duterte critic received drug money when she was justice secretary.

Espenido also alleged that Councilor Ricardo "Ardot" Parojinog, brother of the slain mayor, is a local crime lord.

"Siya yung may hawak ng yung martilyo gang, yung salisi, lahat ng mga gang gang na ganun, mga kidnap for ransom. Siya ang may hawak ng tao," he said.

(He handles the martilyo gang, salisi, all the gangs like that, there is also kidnap for ransom. He holds the people.)

"Ipa-surrender ko sa kanya yung mga warranted person, tsaka stop na talaga yung robbery, yung mga sabi natin na holdup," he added.

(I asked him to surrender the warranted person and to stop the robbery and the holdup.)

Ricardo is still at large and has been placed in an immigration lookout bulletin.
