MANILA - The death toll from a recent police raid in Ozamiz City has reached 16 following the death of another relative of slain Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr., police said Wednesday.

Daryl Parojinog, the mayor's nephew who was wounded in the raid, has passed away, their family lawyer said Tuesday.

"May isang kamag-anak na po silang namatay, ‘yung isang nasa ICU. Si Daryl Parojinog. [We've] just gotten word na pumanaw na po," Atty. Ferdinand Topacio said in a chance interview.

In a phone interview with ABS-CBN News, Northern Mindanao police spokesperson Supt. Lemuel Gonda confirmed that Daryl is the 16th fatality in the predawn raid of the Parojinogs' properties in San Roque Lawis, Ozamiz.

Operatives earlier said they met resistance in serving 6 search warrants against the prominent clan.

Among those killed in the ensuing gun battle were Mayor Parojinog, his wife Susan, his brother Misamis Occidental board member Octavio Parojinog, and their sister Mona.

The mayor's daughter, Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog, meanwhile was arrested after the same operation yielded several firearms and about half a kilo of shabu from her home. She was detained at the police headquarters in Quezon City along with her brother.

Their lawyer is seeking their release as charges were filed against them outside of the prescribed 36 hours after their arrest.

A wake for the siblings' slain relatives was held at a covered court near their Ozamiz home.

Over a dozen flower wreaths from supporters and city hall employees adorned the wake.
