TACLOBAN - Dump trucks, brooms, garbage carts and garbage bins were displayed in front of Tacloban City hall this week to symbolize the city's relaunching of its program to have a cleaner and greener city.

Mayor Cristina Romualdez said the program "Limpyo Tacloban" aims to start the practice of waste segregation among city hall employees.

"Uunahin muna natin ang sarili nating bahay kumbaga, ang city hall," she said.

The city hall aims to be a model of the program.

"Mayron tayong sariling compost pit dito kung saan yung mga janitors, after five, dun sila maglalagay ng biodegradable waste na pwedeng maging fertilizer," Romualdez said.

The city hall will also strictly impose environmental ordinances like the anti-littering and anti-smoking ordinance.

She encouraged Tacloban residents to practice waste segregation in their own homes as a simple means of reducing the impact of climate change.
