Mark Villar has officially resigned from the House of Representatives as he takes his new role as Public Works and Highways Secretary.
His wife, DIWA Party-list representative Emmeline Aglipay-Villar, has been assigned as caretaker representative of Las Piñas by House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez.
However, there will soon be a special elections in Las Piñas to determine Villar's official replacement at the House of Representatives.
Villar on Monday took his oath as DPWH secretary in Malacañang.

Villar, whose family owns a group of real estate companies, earlier vowed not to use his position to grab Private-Public Partnership (PPP) projects.
Villar's family owns listed property developer Vista Land and bulk water supplier Prime Water Infrastructure, headed by his father, former Senator Manny Villar.
