MANILA — Some public school students, senior citizens, persons with disability and solo parents in the capital city will now get a P500 monthly allowance under separate ordinances Manila Mayor Isko Moreno signed Thursday.

Under City Ordinance No. 8564, Grade 12 students enrolled in city-run schools will receive P500 monthly from the local government.

To qualify, Grade 12 students must have a good standing and must be a registered voter in Manila. If the student is not of legal age to be a registered voter, the parent or legal guardian must be a registered voter.

Meanwhile, City Ordinance No. 8565 also grants a P500 assistance to senior citizens, persons with disability, and solo parents who are bonafide residents and registered voters of Manila.

For senior citizens to qualify, they must be at least 60 years old and included in the master list of the Manila Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs.

Persons with disability and solo parents, meanwhile, must be included in the master list of the local Department of Social Welfare and Development.

“This is what we call the social amelioration stimulus program. P1 billion ang aming ilalaan sa programang ito (We will allot P1 billion for this program),” Moreno told selected Manila residents during a courtesy call to the City Hall.
