MANILA- President Rodrigo Duterte is unafraid to face an international tribunal concerning his domestic policies, Malacañang said Thursday.

This, after the President rejected any international trial, saying people who think that he would face a court outside of the Philippines "must be stupid."

"Sinasabihan niya lang na 'ano kayo sinuswerte?' (He's only saying 'you think you're lucky?)," Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said.

"Eh ‘di ba from the very start sinasabi natin (we're saying), 'You’re assaulting our sovereignty. You cannot do that.' Unang-una (First of all), we are not even a member of that… International Court na ‘yan," he said.

Duterte on Wednesday said he "will not answer a Caucasian" on his local policies as he asserted that the Philippine justice system is robust.

“I will not answer a Caucasian, asking question white man there. You must be stupid. Who are you? I am a Filipino. We have our courts here. You have to bring me somewhere else? I would not like that. I have my country. It's working. Justice is working here," Duterte said.

It can be recalled that the Philippines withdrew from the International Criminal Court (ICC) in March 2018 after the world's only permanent war crimes tribunal started an examination into allegations of mass killing in Duterte's war on drugs.
