MANILA - Tropical depression Henry has intensified into a tropical storm as it exited the Philippine area of responsibility, the state weather bureau said Tuesday.

PAGASA said all storm warning signals have been lifted but the southwest monsoon (habagat) will continue to bring rains to certain areas in the country.

Rains that may trigger floods or landslides are expected over Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro provinces, Palawan, and Western Visayas, said forecaster Aldczar Aurelio.

Meanwhile, scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are over the rest of the country, he added.

PAGASA issued an orange rainfall warning over Metro Manila, Cavite, Bataan, and Zambales at 11:00 a.m. today, meaning flood threatens these areas.

While the state weather bureau last spotted Henry at 415 kilometers west of Calayan in Cagayan, another brewing storm is being monitored off the eastern coast.

PAGASA said this low pressure area may develop into a storm in 36 hours if it gathers enough strength.
