BACOLOD - An inmate bolted the Metro Bacolod City District Jail Male Dorm-Annex in this city Saturday night by scaling a wall and riding a motorcycle driven by an accomplice.

Initial investigation from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology revealed Arian Mark Salaver, 27, who is facing drug charges, crept up the concrete wall inside the jail in Barangay Handumanan without being noticed by the jail guards.

Salaver then passed the inner perimeter fence and jumped over the outer wall, which is surrounded by barbed wire. A jail guard who spotted the inmate fired a warning shot but failed to stop Salaver.

An accomplice who was waiting outside with a motorcycle then helped Salavar escape.

Visitors of male inmates were prevented from entering the jail facility Sunday morning as BJMP officials are investigating other inmates who might have helped Salaver escape.

The BJMP has yet to issue a formal statement to the media on the incident as investigation is still ongoing.
