MANILA - Senior Supt. Royina Garma on Monday assumed office as the first female director of Cebu City.

A former station commander in Davao City, the 44-year-old Garma said she plans to replicate the tough law enforcement style of President Rodrigo Duterte's hometown in Cebu.

“Magkakaroon ng police presence at lockdown ng lahat ng daanan ng mga tao,” she told reporters.

(There will be police presence and a lockdown in all public places.)

Garma, who had headed the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Central Visayas, also promised to continue investigating alleged drug lord Peter Lim, as well as strengthen anti-narcotic efforts.

Garma succeeds Senior Supt. Joel Doria, who has completed the 2-year term for police city directors. Doria is credited for pioneering "Oplan Pokemon," a modified one-time, big-time operation where all police stations simultaneously conduct operations.
