MANILA - Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, Vice Mayor Gian Sotto and other city officials were sworn into office Sunday afternoon.
The oath-taking and inauguration ceremony was led by Associate Justice Estela Perlas Bernabe.
Belmonte was accompanied by her father, former Quezon City mayor and House Speaker Sonny Belmonte, as well as other family members.
In her speech, the newly inaugurated top city executive said she would implement ordinance-based and "doable" programs in her first 100 days.
"These include the improvements in the four priority areas: housing, social services, education and health in her first 100 days in office," she said.
"Why? Because no matter how rich or developed Quezon City is, its government should always be judged by how it cares for those in its confines who have the least in life," she added.
Belmonte's running mate, Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, also took his oath of office.
He was accompanied by his father, Senate President Tito Sotto III, mother Helen Gamboa, wife Joy Woolbright-Sotto and his children.
