MANILA (UPDATE)—Heads up, Kapamilya. A new low-pressure area entered the Philippine area of responsibility at 9 p.m. Thursday, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

The weather disturbance was located 1,075 km east of Juban town, Sorsogon as of 4 p.m. Friday.

The LPA will be locally named "Egay," the fifth tropical cyclone to enter the country this year, if it intensifies in the next 48 hours.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon (habagat) continues to prevail and affect western sections of Luzon and Visayas.
