MANILA - Former Senator Bong Revilla on Thursday asked the Sandiganbayan 1st Division to allow him to visit his father, former Senator Ramon Revilla Sr., in the hospital for two days.

The younger Revilla asked to visit his father at the St. Luke's Medical Center in Taguig City on June 19, from 6:00 am to 12:00 noon, and on June 20, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Revilla has been detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center while on trial at the Sandiganbayan for his alleged involvement in the P10-billion Priority Development Assistance Fund scam.

In an urgent motion submitted by his lawyers, Revilla said his father "will undergo Percutaneous Mitral Clip, a medical procedure which involves considerable risk to a frail 90-year old man."

The older Revilla is being treated for a heart condition, described in his son's plea as a "valvular heart disease, severe mitral regurgitation, congestive heart failure and NYHA FC II," the last describing the severity of the heart affliction at Level 2, which causes a slight limitation in the patient's physical activity.

"Accused Revilla feels obliged to come to the aid of his father, who is very close to him, even by his mere presence, and cannot disregard a son's natural urge and desire to visit and be with his ailing and weak father, and spend a few moments together," Revilla's lawyers said.

In open court, the prosecution said they would submit to the discretion of the court and did not enter any opposition.
