MANILA -- Rep. Michael Odylon Romero of the 1-PACMAN party-list remained the richest congressman in 2018, followed by one other billionaire member of the House of Representatives, according to a document released Wednesday by the chamber.

Romero, whose company is the biggest shareholder of budget airline AirAsia's Philippine arm, had a net worth of P7.858 billion, based on the House's summary of statements of assets, liabilities, and net worth (SALN).

The 1-Pacman representative was also the richest congressman in 2017 with a net worth of P7.29 billion.

His fellow billionaire, Negros Occidental 3rd District Rep. Alfredo Benitez, was the second richest congressman in 2018 with a net worth of P1.017 billion.

At third place is Ilocos Norte 2nd District Rep. Imelda Marcos with a net worth of P923.8 million.

Marcos last year was found guilty of graft by the Sandiganbayan for using her Cabinet position to maintain Swiss bank accounts during the regime of her husband, the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos.

The former First Lady was out on bail as she appealed her graft conviction.

Meanwhile, Kabataan Party-list Rep. Sarah Elago remained the poorest House member with a net worth of P85,400.
