MANILA—With a few days before classes begin, teachers at a public school in Cavite transformed an old restroom into their faculty office.
Images of the rundown area were posted on Facebook on Friday, May 31.
Maricel Herrera, who teaches at Bacoor National High School, said 11 teachers share the makeshift space, storing their teaching materials under a staircase.
"Ito 'yung ginawang faculty [room] na dating CR, so mga 11 teachers ang nag-stay dito," Herrera said in a video submitted to ABS-CBN News, which showed the haphazardly converted room.
"Masyadong maliit sa 11 teachers, at ito 'yung pinakabodega ng mga gamit ng mga teachers," she said, referring to the space under the staircase.
Herrera said teachers paid for the repairs.
"Ang masaya nu'n, sa bulsa pa (ng teacher) galing ang pinagpaayos. Kulang na nga ang sweldo, gagastusan pa niya ang sana ay maayos na faculty room," she said in a Facebook post.
