MANILA - Ruling PDP-Laban has yet to discuss how many Senate committee chairmanships it would ask for in the 18th Congress, incoming Sen. Francis Tolentino said Wednesday.
PDP-Laban President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel earlier told reporters that Duterte’s former adviser - who placed 9th in the Senate race - expressed interest in 6 Senate committees.
"No comment ako dun. Maguusap pa kasi 'yung partido, 'yung PDP, 'yung HNP, si Mayor Inday [Sara Duterte],” Tolentino told reporters on the sidelines of the senatorial proclamation in PICC.
Under Senate rules, each lawmaker could only chair up to 2 committees.
Sen. Sonny Angara also dodged questions on whether he would still want to chair the Senate Finance Committee that pushed for the heavily-criticized Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law.
“Mahirap magsabi ng personal options kasi it is a collegial decision,” he said.
Throughout the campaign, Angara stayed mum on the negative effects of the tax reform law that he heralded in the legislative chamber.
He placed 6th in the Senate race with about 18 million votes.
