MANILA - The Abalos family maintains its hold on Mandaluyong City, even as other political families suffered setbacks in other parts of Metro Manila.

With 100 percent of the votes counted in Mandaluyong, incumbent mayor Menchie Abalos was the runaway winner of the city's mayoral race tallying 128,661 votes versus her lone challenger Florencio Solomon who got only 8,589 votes.
