MAKATI - Reelectionist Sen. Nancy Binay on Monday said she remains hopeful that her brother and sister will reconcile after the May 2019 elections.

"Magkakapatid kami. Iisa lang ang dugo na nananalaytay sa'min kaya kailangan magkaayos kami ngayong elections regardless of the result," Binay said while waiting for a replacement vote counting machine before casting her vote.

Nancy has been supporting her younger brother Junjun, who is running against their sister Abby for the Makati mayoralty. Their father, former Vice President Jejomar Binay, is backing Abby.

Last month, the two siblings feuded openly during an election forum inside a church.

Junjun said their quarrel erupted when his sister falsely accused him of linking her husband Makati Rep. Luis Campos to the narcotics trade.

Abby, meanwhile, said Junjun accused her and her husband of being involved in the killing of his long-time aide.

Sen. Binay said she has yet to speak with her sister but is still hopeful for reconciliation after the election. She said she was supposed to vote together with her father and brother on Monday before a problem with the vote counting machine in San Antonio High School disrupted their plans.

"Supposedly dapat sabay sabay kaming boboto ng 8 o'clock pero nangyari nga 'yung ganitong aberya. First time na nangyari 'yung ganitong problema," she said.

"Magkakapresinto kami and all voters of this barangay. Pagkatapos nito kung anuman lumabas, we will always be family," she added.
