MANILA - Globe Telecom on Friday said it "optimized" its network to immediately transmit of election data during the May 13 midterm vote.

SIM cards provisioned for election use passed quality tests by Smartmatic, the voting machine contractor, Globe said in a statement.

"Globe Telecom announced that it has optimized its network to ensure swift data transmission during the midterm election," the Ayala-led telco said.

The Commission on Elections earlier said it had purchased 97,000 vote counting machines from Smartmatic last year.
