Police close down Padre Faura Street to motorists.

MANILA (UPDATE)—Padre Faura Street in Manila was closed to traffic late Thursday night ahead of the anticipated rallies supporting Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

Trucks and fences were placed at the scene locking down Padre Faura.

A number of supporters camped out and sang chants.

Father Robert Reyes said the group planned to stay overnight to get behind the chief justice.

Some of the supporters have camped out as early as last week, to pray and fast.

They are decrying the closure of Padre Faura because more supporters are expected to come Friday morning.

At the other end of Padre Faura, a smaller group calling for Sereno's resignation has also camped out.

On Friday, the SC magistrates will vote on the ouster petition against Sereno.
