MANILA - The lawyer behind the impeachment complaint against Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno is facing another disbarment case.

This time, Lorenzo Gadon is facing a case filed by "Pinoy Ako" blogger Jover Laurio, Aunell Angcos, and several others before the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) on Tuesday afternoon.

The complainants said Gadon violated his oath as a lawyer when he hurled expletives and raised his middle finger at some Sereno supporters who held a protest at the Supreme Court in Baguio City on April 10.

"'Yung ginawa niya, bukod sa hindi magandang halimbawa sa mga abogado, hindi rin magandang halimbawa sa mga kabataan. Sabi niya OK lang siya ma-disbar di ba, eh di ibigay natin 'yung hiling niya," Laurio told reporters.

(Besides setting a bad example to lawyers, what he did was not a good example for the youth. He said it's OK if he gets disbarred, then let's give him what he asked for.)

At least 8 Sereno supporters who Gadon had cursed at and insulted earlier filed a disbarment case based on the same incident.

As he faced multiple cases seeking to remove him from the bar, the lawyer said he has no regrets about cursing at Sereno supporters, claiming that the protesters started it all. He said he would rather be disbarred than get helplessly insulted.

"I was thinking of filing a petition in the Supreme Court to disbar me. If this bar thing is the only thing that will constrain me from getting back at them, then I'd rather lose my license," Gadon said.

The first disbarment case against Gadon was filed in 2016 after he allegedly said that Muslims should be killed to attain peace in Mindanao.

Earlier this year, Gadon earned his second disbarment case after lawyer Wilfredo Garrido Jr. asked the IBP to revoke his license for his arrogance and dishonesty during impeachment proceedings against Sereno at the House of Representatives.
