ALEOSAN, North Cotabato - An improvised bomb exploded at tower 68 of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) located at Purok 4, Barangay Pagangan Tuesday evening.

According to Aleosan PNP chief PSI Edwin Abantes, they received a call from a concerned citizen that a loud blast was heard in the area.

Upon verification, they found out that 4 posts of the tower were damaged. The tower, however, remained upright.

"Nakita natin totally cut yung 4 na poste. Sa observation ng EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), bawat poste ay kinabitan ng IED (improvised explosive device)," said Abantes.

Crew from the NGCP went to the area Wednesday morning to assess the damage.

NGCP line engineer Fermin Manos said the bombing incident did not affect the power line and that there is no power interruption in their service areas.

"Nagprepare na kami ng pangtapal, yung pagstop ng naputol so i-welding namin yung apat na naputol. Kung wala yung brace, sigurado natumba na," said Manos.

Authorities are still conducting investigation to identify the group behind the explosion.

A coordinating meeting among local government officials, PNP and AFP will also be held to prevent another bombing,

In December 2015, Tower 68 in Aleosan was also bombed and was completely toppled. It was the second NGCP tower being bombed by unidentified perpetrators that year.

Just last month Tower 138 in Kabacan, North Cotabato was also bombed.
