BORACAY - Garbage continued to pile up at a sorting facility for recyclables in this popular resort island, with heavy equipment used to haul the trash out of commission for the Holy Week.

The operator of the backhoe will be back on Sunday or Monday, leaving city officials to collect garbage from hotels and restaurants, according to Zenaida Cabangon, timekeeper of the materials recovery facility

The MRF is a transit point before trash is shipped to the Malay municipality mainland.

At least 50 trucks dump garbage in the MRF each day, Cabangon said.
