BUKIDNON - A father and son duo believed to be members of a criminal gang selling fake money were arrested in an entrapment operation on Tuesday, busted with several pieces of fake American dollar bills.

Ernesto "Randy" Pechora, 60 and his son Rico, 18, were arrested in a sting operation launched by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Central Bank of the Philippines in Valencia City on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Operatives took them into custody after they were able to purchase counterfeit money from the two.

Police recovered fake bills including a $1-million bill, a $1,000 bill, 100 pieces of $100 bills, two pieces of $50 bills, and one $10 bill. Of the denominations, the US does not print a million-dollar bill and has long discontinued the use of the $1,000 bill.

Genuine but demonetized foreign currencies were also seized from the two, including nine pieces of 25,000 Iraqi dinar bills and two pieces of 100-trillion Zimbabwe dollars.

The suspects face charges of the illegal possession and use of false treasury and bank notes.
