MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday ordered Malabon City Mayor Antolin “Lenlen” Oreta III to rid the city of illegal drugs or he will be arrested.

“Mayor, linisin mo ang Malabon mo. Bigyan kita ng isang buwan,” Duterte said during the campaign rally of PDP-Laban in Malabon City.

(Mayor, clean up your Malabon. I will give you one month.)

“Pahuli ko yung mayor niyo, itapon ko sa Manila Bay,” Duterte added, to the delight of the crowd who applauded to his stern warning.

(I will order the arrest of your mayor. I will throw him into the Manila Bay.)

Duterte issued this statement as he campaigned for Malabon City Vice Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, Oreta’s opponent for the mayoralty race in the May polls.

Oreta, who belongs to the opposition Liberal Party, is seeking to be reelected for a third and final term this May.

Meanwhile, Duterte also revealed that he will release a document detailing the alleged involvement of some police officials in the drug trade.

“Eh hindi ilalabas ko ‘yung dokumento bukas. Iyong paano maglaro ang pulis sa droga, ‘yung mga opisyal; at bakit hindi mahinto-hinto. At bakit naman ‘yung mga pulis noon naka-assign sa anti-drugs hanggang ngayon sa anti-drugs pa rin. Kaya pinaglalaruan ang Pilipino,” he said.

(I will release the documents tomorrow. It will show how the police are involved in the drug trade and why this does not stop. It will also show why some policemen assigned in the anti-drug units are still there. The Filipinos are being fooled.)

Duterte has lamented that some of his fiercest opponents in the war on drugs come from within the government.

“Ang droga hindi ko nga makontrol, p***** i** pinapatay ko na ang mga h***** na ‘yan. Nandiyan pa rin ‘yung droga. Mas lalo tuloy tumindi,” he said.

(I cannot control the illegal drugs. I ordered these sons of b****** killed but it’s still there. It even got worse.)

“Kaya ang tanong naman ng mga ibang opisyal, ito ba’y tagumpay? Kasi sabihin ko sa inyo hindi because worldwide ‘yan. It’s a worldwide problem ngayon ang droga pati China, Taiwan. At marami na ang tinamaan.

(So when officials ask me, has it been successful? I will say no because it’s a worldwide problem. It has afflicted China, Taiwan and many others.)
