MANILA - The Supreme Court has allowed plunder convict Janet Lim Napoles to attend hearings of her cases in relation to the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam and the Malampaya fund scam at the Sandiganbayan.

The high court, in a notice dated Feb. 29, said Napoles can "be transported to and from the Sandiganbayan whenever her presence will be required."

Napoles is currently jailed at the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City.

The notice was in response to letters of various divisions of the anti-graft court seeking Napoles' presence in hearings. The lack of notice from the Supreme Court has stalled proceedings in cases which involve the businesswoman.

In December last year, Napoles was found guilty of plunder in connection with the misuse of former senator Bong Revilla's PDAF. The former lawmaker was cleared of the charge.

Napoles is tagged as the mastermind behind the multibillion-peso PDAF scam, where lawmakers' discretionary funds were diverted to bogus non-government associations.

She was also brought to court for alleged involvement in the misuse of P900 million in Malampaya funds for disaster response operations in 2009.
