MANILA - Social Welfare Assistant Secretary Lorraine Marie Badoy took to social media on Monday to give unsolicited advice to critics of President Rodrigo Duterte's campaign against illegal drugs.

Badoy said that instead of sounding the alarm on the deaths of thousands of drug suspects, those from the European Union (EU) should just engage in online child pornography while Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Antonio Trillanes IV should take up crochet.

"Learn a craft. Mag-gantsilyo club muna kayo, Trillanes, Leni, etc. Bake ng red velvet cupcakes. Tapos yung mga taga EU, mag online child porn muna kayo. Dyan naman kayo magaling eh. (Wow. Uproar.)," she said in a Facebook post.

Social Welfare and Development Secretary Judy Taguiwalo in a statement said the assistant secretary was being "obviously sarcastic" and was not advocating child pornography or making light of the problem.

The statement from her office said she has communicated with Badoy that "there is no problem between them," adding that a silver lining to this issue is the attention cast on the social problem of child porn and the need to put an end to it.

The EU has threatened to revoke Manila's trade privileges which are pre-conditioned on compliance with international agreements, including those on human rights.

Trillanes, meanwhile, has expressed support for the impeachment complaint against Duterte.

Robredo, on the other hand, revealed alleged irregularities of the anti-narcotics campaign before a United Nations body.

Robredo's critics' have alleged that her UN message was part of a ploy to oust Duterte from power. She has repeatedly denied the accusation.

Badoy, who was appointed in February, said Duterte's critics should only fund destabilization plots if public support for the President wanes.

She noted, however, that Duterte enjoys high approval ratings and even an early lead in an online poll for TIME magazine's list of most influential people.

"If I wanted to topple his government and if I wanted to destroy him and take his place, and IF I had half a teaspoon of IQ on me, I’d wait. Bide my time. Wait for when he trips and makes some HUGE error so that people turn against him and his approval ratings go on a downward dizzy spiral," Badoy said.

"THEN and only THEN would it be the time to let your cash flow to pay the EU idiots with galls as huge as Goodyear blimps to call for the president’s resignation."
