MANILA - A city-wide community quarantine took effect Sunday in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, city officials announced.

The quarantine was a response to a Department of Health confirmation on the same day that a second person from the city has contracted COVID-19.

According to the San Jose del Monte health office, the two patients are at hospitals in Metro Manila. Contact tracing and hygiene protocols were also activated to contain the spread of the virus.

Those who work outside San Jose del Monte will be allowed to pass through its borders, but will be required to show their company ID at checkpoints.
