MANILA - A city-wide community quarantine took effect Sunday in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, city officials announced.
The quarantine was a response to a Department of Health confirmation on the same day that a second person from the city has contracted COVID-19.
According to the San Jose del Monte health office, the two patients are at hospitals in Metro Manila. Contact tracing and hygiene protocols were also activated to contain the spread of the virus.
During the quarantine, classes will be suspended and mass gatherings will not be allowed.
Quarantine checkpoints have been put up in the following areas:
- Barangay San Isidro
- Dela Costa, Barangay Graceville
- Evergreen, Barangay Gaya-Gaya
- Harmony Hills, Barangay Muzon
- Sapang Alat, Barangay San Miguel
Those who work outside San Jose del Monte will be allowed to pass through its borders, but will be required to show their company ID at checkpoints.
