MANILA- The Philippine Red Cross has deployed at least 6 water tankers to hospitals across Metro Manila affected by the water shortage.

The deployment came after Health Chief Francisco Duque asked for assurance from water service providers that hospitals won't run out of water.

“We are ready to address the needs of the hospitals because we have water tankers that are capable of filling up a high-pressure water system,” PRC chair Sen. Richard Gordon said in a statement Wednesday.

Among the hospitals that have received additional water supply is
the Rizal Medical Center in Pasig City.

The PRC added that it currently has 8 tankers across the metro which can supply water.

Residents in eastern Metro Manila have been experiencing a shortage of water supply amid the declining water level at the La Mesa dam because of the lack of rain and rising demand.
