MANILA - A House of Representatives committee on Monday voted to postpone the barangay and Sanguniang Kabataan elections to October from May.
The Committee on Suffrage and Electoral Reforms voted 14 to 2 in favor of postponing the elections. A subsequent vote set the polls on the second Monday of October.
The two lawmakers opposed to the postponement were ACT Teachers party-list Rep. Antonio Tinio and Caloocan City Rep. Edgar Erice.
The committee is set to consolidate 4 related bills on the barangay and SK elections and draft a substitute bill for the House plenary's approval. -- report from RG Cruz, ABS-CBN News
