The necrological service was held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. His remains will be interred at the Libingan ng mga Bayani Saturday.

Among known personalities who attended the necrological service for Abueva were National Artists Benedicto "Bencab" Cabrera, F. Sionil Jose, Bienvenido Lumbera, Alice Reyes, Ramon Santos, and Virgilio Almario.

Abueva was famous for his incredibly diverse portfolio and his passion for experimentation.

His reputation as a master capable of crafting classic pieces from different materials began when he burst into the country's art scene in the '50s with "The Kiss of Judas," which he fashioned out of a single adobe block to symbolize betrayal.
