MANILA - Senator Bam Aquino on Friday said the support of his cousin, Kris Aquino, will be a big plus to his reelection campaign.

"Ate Kris' support is definitely a big plus. Anyone would be happy to be supported by Ate Kris. Of course, she is going through a number of things and I hope those things are resolved as soon as possible," Aquino said in an interview on ANC's Headstart.

The senator said Aquino sent word after the Harapan 2019: The ABS-CBN Senatorial Town Hall Debate last Feb. 17.

"She said 'From Tokyo, Bam, please tell everyone I have 100 percent support for you'. All caps yung 100 PERCENT...and we released a statement right after," said Sen. Aquino.

But he clarified that her support won't be like that of the previous campaigns where they were campaigning together.

"She can't come out in the usual way, pero sabi niya please tell everyone I have 100 percent support," said Sen. Aquino.

The actress-host is embroiled in controversy with Nicko Falcis, the former managing director of her online company KCAP (Kristina C. Aquino Foundation).

Aquino has accused Falcis of theft amounting to P1.27 million, allegedly as he made personal purchases using a credit card she had entrusted him for transactions involving the actress’ production company.

Falcis, however, denied the allegations.

Last January, Falcis filed two counts of grave threats against the actress before the Office of the City Prosecutor of Quezon City.

An audio of their supposed phone conversation also went viral online.

Aquino publicly admitted that she was the woman in the leaked recording.
