3 dead, 7 hurt in Butuan road accident

Three people died and seven others were injured in a collision between a passenger multicab and a truck in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte on Monday afternoon.

The fatalities were identified as Ronald Balderas, 51, Princess Cawaling, 20, and Alex Avila, 33.

Initial investigation showed the truck driven by Viviano Paquibot swerved to the opposite lane when its rear tire exploded in Barangay Sumilihon past 12 p.m.

The Surigao-bound truck collided with the multicab driven by Seth Aballar before ending up to a coconut tree.

Aballar survived the crash, but three of his passengers died.

Five other passengers sustained injuries and were brought to Butuan City Medical Center. 

They were Ricky Lomanog, Keren Hijapon, Jade Busa, Jessie John Balderas, and Chona Mae DelapeƱa.

Paquibot and his companion Welmar Saliwa were also brought to hospital. They are confined at Agusan del Norte Provincial Hospital. - report from Rodge Cultura, ABS-CBN News
