MANILA - Eight people have died following the powerful earthquake that struck Surigao del Norte on Friday, its Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management office said.

As of 4 p.m. Sunday, the casualties have been identified as follows:

3. Wilson Lito, 35
4. Justina Roda, 83
5. Grobert Eludo, 40
6. Wenefreda Bernal
7. Jenelyn Ebale, 5
8. Rommel Tano, 17

Friday's earthquake, the strongest tremor to hit the city since 1989, injured at least 126 individuals, disaster officials said.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has recorded over 100 aftershocks following the earthquake, including a magnitude 4.9 tremor felt Saturday.
